LISTEN: Heather's talk about the Wisdom of the Body on The Art of Humanity Podcast

Jessica Ann is a friend who I met last year when my Ayurveda practice was housed over at the now closed-down Harmonia Wellness Center in Sausalito, CA. It was a magical place. Once the home of The Plant Recording Studio - where Prince, Fleetwood Mac, Mariah Carey, Van Morrison, Metallica and so many other musical artists made recording history - the space was transformed into a healing center with a yoga studio, wellness rooms, a sauna, and super-cool common areas for co-working by its former owner Jennifer Adler. We were lucky to have this gem while it was in existence.

One of the great relationships I made during my time at Harmonia was with Jessica. She is the author of Humanize Your Brand: How to Create Content that Connects with Your Customers and the host of The Art of Humanity podcast. She's also a trained yoga teacher and loves to learn about Ayurveda, so she had me on her podcast recently so we could jam. (And she's helping me set up my own podcast now.)

If you want to hear a podcast about Ayurveda and not fertility, then have a listen!

In this episode we talk about:

  • How I went from the corporate world to what she does today

  • Ayurveda – what is it, exactly?

  • The three doshas: Vatta, Pitta and Kapha – and their physiology and psychology symptoms

We also discuss:

  • The difference between the primal and intellectual mind

  • The importance of aligning with nature and thinking contextually

  • The main causes of disease and why we need to get to the root causes

  • Sex fasting and why our mission is to discover what kind of plant we are
